Existing Vodacom customers now have the ability to self-RICA their SIM cards from the convenience of their own homes thanks to a new, streamlined approach that was developed by Vodacom.
Self-RICA SIMs are now available to current Vodacom customers via a new, streamlined service that allows them to do so from home. The Self-RICA software automatically records and confirms the client’s personal information against external trustworthy sources, including the Department of Home Affairs, biometrics, and Artificial Intelligence, delivering optimal ease for the consumer and Vodacom.
The creation of a digital society is one of our Vision 2020 goals.’ Self-RICA eliminates the need to go to a shop to RICA a SIM card, allowing us to provide digital innovation to the market. For our customers, we’ve streamlined and digitized the procedure. “This is just another way we are continuing to pursue a digital transformation path for ourselves and for our consumers,” said Jorge Mendes, Chief Officer Consumer Business Unit of Vodacom.
A new revolutionary Self-RICA layer for consumers to RICA new Sim cards has been introduced by Vodacom after the successful release of the ‘Vodacom Self-RICA’ software, which we utilized to help them update their previously existing RICA data. Tobi, Vodacom’s Chatbot, is now available to new users on the MyVodacom App so they can Self-RICA.
Simply take a photo, scan an ID or passport for international nationals, and film a video with a unique pin as verification that you are the right person seeking the Self-RICA. All of these identities are compared using artificial intelligence and biometrics, and then validated with the Department of Homeland Security. To activate the SIM, just plug it into any phone, and Vodacom will send a welcome message with the customer’s new telephone number.
The Self-RICA method requires that you have a form of identification on hand. Citizens of South Africa should use their green ID book or new ID card, while those of other countries should use their passports. If you’re a foreign national, you’ll need to snap images of your passport, ID card, or other government-issued photo ID at several points along the procedure. Make sure:
- Images are shot in a well-lit room and are crisp and clear, with no smudging or pixelation.
- The data is clearly shown in the document.
- All of your ID / Passport photos and videos match your selfies and videos.
- The ID or passport you’re carrying is now open.
- An exact replica of your government-issued picture identification or passport was used to create this digital replica (No photocopies)
- Customers may visit Vodacom and click on Self-Service and choose Vodacom Self RICA to learn more about Self-RICA. A second option is to make a WhatsApp contact with “TOBi” and ask TOBi about Self-RICA.
